Virginia Man Shot During Barbershop Argument Over Halle Berry Potentially Playing Aretha Franklin in Biopic

When the life of deceased celebrity, is more important than you own.

SUFFOLK, Virginia –  On Thursday morning around 10 a.m. police officers found themselves at  a barbershop in response reports of a gunshot victim.

According to authorities, the shooting that happened in the 300 block of East Washington Street, started with an argument.

A witness told News3 he watched the two men in the local barbershop arguing over whether or not Halle Berry played or would play Aretha Franklin in a movie.

Police said the fight turned physical and then one of the subjects, identified as 44-year-old Michael Jermell Hatton, produced a firearm, shooting the other man at least once outside the shop.

Both men got emergency medical assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel before being transported to local hospitals for further treatment.

The ego is  powerful thing. How we feel about ourselves determines how we respond to situations. Michael’s ego felt slighted, and due to his childhood upbringing his first reaction was to become violent. Kids growing up in urban America are taught that violence is the answer. Now violence is attracted to Michael, because he focuses on it.  Which would explain the gun.  Guns have a way of making people feel powerful. Which caters to the ego. It takes a very responsible person to carry a concealed weapon and not pull it out unnecessarily. Here we wonder if Michael has a wife he loves at home or kids who love him.  He intentionally changed the trajectory of his life by feeding into anger, until he exploded.

Now he sits in jail, understanding his decisions, reflecting and realizing there was definitely a better way. Hopefully the jail time causes a shift in his mindset. Hopefully Michael comes out of jail a free man. Jail is a great place to set yourself free, if that’s where you happen to find yourself. Jail gives you plenty of time to think of how to do and be better.

Attempt to separate yourself from your ego a bit. Just because something is happening to you, doesn’t mean it’s about you. Just because someone insults you or hurts your feelings doesn’t mean you have to feed into the negativity energy. Besides with a stranger, you’ll probably never see them again. So what’s the point of the violence? You’re going to place a low value on your own life in order to teach them a lesson? No. That’s not the way to go. Positivity is the way to go. Laugh at people and keep it moving. Focus on being happy.
