Some people achieve great success against unsurmountable odds….
A homeless high school student from Memphis has been named valedictorian and has already received more than $3 million in college scholarships.
via NYDN:
Tupac Mosley, 17, was awarded more than 50 scholarships amounting to over $3 million before his graduation. He was also accepted into more than 40 colleges, local Fox affiliate WHBQ reported.
Mosley graduated from Raleigh Egypt High School on Sunday with a 4.3 GPA.
He told peers during his graduation speech that his story is an example that nothing is impossible and thanked his teachers and principal for their support.
“Everything that you poured into me was worth $3 million and counting,” Mosley said of his supporters.
The teen and his family have been living at a cabin provided by the nonprofit organization For The Kingdom, which aims to lead Memphis youth in the right direction through camps and retreats.
“After my father passed, we fell behind on bills and we ended up getting evicted from our home on Feb. 21,” Mosley said. “So we went to different homes so far and we were blessed to have For The Kingdom.”
He now has plans to move into a permanent home, but Mosley said the biggest challenge while homeless was time management during the most stressful part of his senior year.
“Never let your current situation, whatever circumstances you’re going through, be a mountain that you can’t climb,” Mosley told WHBQ.
Mosley plans to attend Tennessee State University in the fall where he will major in electrical engineering.
We love this!
One thing I’ve learned is to never let temporary situation make you feel hopeless. The path to success is often filled with twist and turns that walk you into a great purpose. Hold tight to your dreams.
