Police investigating mysterious death of 2 sisters dumped off bridge with bags over their heads

Rome, Georgia —  The state of Georgia reopened last Friday in the midst of Corona virus and murder quickly came knocking at it’s doors.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating the suspicious deaths of two women in Rome.

On Wednesday, the bodies of the women were found underneath the Etowah Bridge by city workers near Gizzard Park.

Floyd County Chief Deputy Coroner Connie Chandler confirmed the identities as: 18-year-old Vanita “Vera” Richardson, and 30-year-old Clarice Truvenia “Bean” Campbell.

The women’s bodies were “apparently dropped over the (Etowah) bridge,” GBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Brian Johnston told the Rome News-Tribune.

911 calls from the people who found the bodies said that they had bags over their heads and that their clothing was tattered.

Richardson was due to graduate from Armuchee High School this weekend.

“Vanita will be remembered for being a fun-loving, humble, and motivated student who was making strong plans for her future,” Floyd County Schools wrote on Twitter.

Their bodies have been sent to the GBI for autopsy. to determine cause of death.

Investigators are asking for help from anyone who may have been in the area between Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. and Wednesday at 11 a.m. You’re asked to call the GBI at 1800-597-8477.
