Black Excellence
Two Female College Roomates Make Black History By Closing a Deal on an $8.3 Million Dollar Hotel
From Georgia State University to Millionaires
Davonne Reaves and Jessica Myers met and attended Georgia State University, in the early 2000s. Both ladies shared the same dream of owning hotel property. Davonne started as a front desk agent for the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, a beautiful 4-Star Hotel. She was able to get promotions taking her to the top of the business ladder. Her journey took 14 years but she was able to keep faith and stay focused on the prize.
Jessica worked as a communication and advertising industry professional, for CBS and Outfront Media. Years later, she then finds herself flipping houses. She jokes and blames it on watching too many HGTV episodes.
Sounds like watching too much t.v. landed her an $8.2 million dollar deal!!! Don’t we all wish it was that easy!
These Ladies are Black History in the Making
Davonne and Jessica are the youngest Black women to ever co-own a property under a major hotel chain. How cool is that to be able to tell your kids you were and are a piece of history. Just having something to pass down to your kids in itself is a blessing.
February 6th is a special date Davonne set to own the hotel by. That was her late grandmother’s birthday. To make it even better it was Jessica’s birthday as well.
Their Hotel is named the Home2 Suites by Hilton. It is in El Reno, Oklahoma. The ladies are shedding light on the lack of black hotel owners, especially black female hotel owners.
These ladies have gone so far and yet their journey has just begun. Such true greatness. I am looking forward to seeing what amazing things come from this brilliant idea and hardwork.
Congratulations, Davonne and Jessica!
