MILWAUKEE — A 26-year-old pregnant woman was shot Thursday morning.
It’s a sight that Michael Clay can’t get out of his head. Finding his sister, 26-year-old Myya Clay, lying on the ground after being shot five times.
“There were two shots in her upper back and three to the stomach,” said Michael.
TMJ4 Reports: The tragic incident happened around 5:30 a.m. Thursday near the corner of 66th and Marion Street. Michael says his sister, who was seven months pregnant at the time, was walking to her car on her way to work when someone tried to rob her.
“That’s when they let out the shots. I don’t know who would want to aim for her or nothing like that. Because my sister, she’s a homebody. She just goes to work and then comes home,” said Michael.
The suspects took off. Maya was taken to the hospital. Her unborn baby, a boy she was going to name Myles, did not survive.
“We planned so many things, had so many future plans for him, and we wanted him to do great things in life,” said Michael.
Sean Burton lives four doors down. He’s been in the neighborhood for more than 20 years.
“It’s quiet normally, but it’s changed considerably. Think about what you’re about to do. Think of the ramifications,” said Burton.
Now, Myya’s family is sending this message to the shooters:
“Just turn yourself in. Just do the right thing because she didn’t deserve that,” said Michael.
Police say no one has been arrested.
Myya is in critical condition. She is expected to go into surgery Friday morning. Doctors are hopeful that she will pull through.
Police said they are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting and they are seeking unknown suspects.
Prayers that she pulls through. 🙏
