Fivio Foreign says Beyoncé Made Him Fix Vulgar Lyrics Before Clearing Destiny’s Child Sample “You Can’t Be Talking About Girls Like That”

When it came to clearing a Destiny’s Child sample the Queen stood her ground and demanded that Fivio Foreign step his game up.

Fivio Foreign says Beyoncé had a problem with some of his bars and made him freshen them up before she cleared the sample one of her songs.

In an interview on Thursday morning (April 7), with Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning with Laura Stylez and Rosenberg, Fivio explained that in order for Beyoncé to clear a Destiny’s Child sample from their 1999 smash “Say My Name,” the New York Drill rapper would need to clean up some lyrics that she found to be too vulgar in nature.

The Fivio track, “What’s My Name,” features guest appearances from Coi Leray and Queen Naija. When and when asked whether or not Beyoncé had to be the one to give the go-ahead to use the sample, Fivio confirmed that she did indeed clear the use of “Say My Name,” but only after the aforementioned stipulation.

“Shout-out Destiny’s Child, appreciate that, they cleared that joint. I’m sayin’ Big John [Platt] and them,” Fivi told the New York City radio hosts. “Yeah, she heard it. She had to hear it, you know what I’m sayin’. She heard it. She made me… it was a little, it was a little vulgar, a little bit for her, at first. I cleaned it up, I cleaned it up. I cleaned it up a lot. It was like, ‘Nah, you can’t be talking ’bout girls like that!”

“What’s My Name” was produced by AayoAA, Bordeaux and NoN native, and is included on Fivio Foreign’s debut studio album, B.I.B.L.E., which dropped at midnight on Friday (April 8). The song contains elements of the Destiny’s Child track’s iconic hook.
