The complaint says Jones knew about Smith’s open criminal case but still allowed him in her residence. Authorities say Jones denied Smith was engaged in any illicit drug-related activities inside her home. However, during another interview, the complaint says Jones admitted she knew Smith sells “dope,” and that it’s a white chunky substance that was like a powder.
Jones reportedly told investigators Smith was at her home on May 11, packaging his drugs in the kitchen. She also admitted the tin foil recovered in the garbage was from Smith packaging his drugs for sale.
According to the complaint, Jones admitted after her son Kayden died, she suspected it was a result of being exposed to an illicit substance.
Kanesha Jones faces the following charges:
Jones made her initial appearance in Milwaukee County court on Saturday, May 21. Cash bond was set at $15,000.
“This is a difficult situation. There’s a child who is deceased,” said Susan Roth, Milwaukee County court commissioner.
Jones’ boyfriend has not been charged in the death of the child.
Statement from Kayden’s grandfather: “Kayden was a loving kid with a big personality who loved to play at the park, on his tablet, his PS4 and be on the go. He’s spent lots of time with his grandfather, Adrian Jernigan, taking flights back and forth to Arizona. He could light up a room. He will be truly missed. He has made a major impact in the 5 years he was on this Earth. We love you, Kayden. Love, Papa.”
While we can all say let’s have sympathy for women who may not know any better, cause it’s not like they can just pop up and get a high value man. When they walk outside, they see a bunch of hood dudes who don’t see the light of even trying to live a straight and narrow life. The entire neighborhood only knows how to survive and do what they have to do. It’s the norm.
But to anyone outside of that, common sense says don’t allow anyone to bring drugs in your home around your child. The fact that it’s considered norm in such households, will not boil over into the courtroom. The courtroom sees things as black and white when it comes to black defendants.
Any woman currently in such an environment, at least go to community college and try to better yourself. God placed a dream inside of you. Walk in alignment with that dream and remove anyone not in alignment with it.
I know things may seem tough right now, but it will get better. It’s a journey. Have boundaries and know what you want. Don’t only think of the now. Think of your future.
Place yourself around others who are striving. Don’t try to blend into your neighborhood and do what you see everyone else doing. Especially if you are going to bring life into this world. You have to give those kids a chance…
