Cheating Wife Who Couldn’t Afford Divorce, Charged with Husband’s Murder After Claiming an Intruder Broke In and Shot Him

A Missouri woman is facing charges in connection to the shooting death of her husband, after she claimed an intruder broke into their home and shot him.

Melanie Biggins, 40, of Kansas City “has been charged in the fatal shooting of her husband who was shot to death while he was sleep in bed, inside of his own home, by the woman he trusted the most.

Biggins is facing charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action, according to charging documents.

Prosecutors said that the Kansas City Police Department were called about a shooting on the 1700 block of Gillespie on Aug. 31. When they arrived at the scene, about 1 A.M. Melanie was found performing CPR on her husband Etienne L. McEwan 50.

According to a police report obtained by KMBC, Biggins claimed she heard the gunshot when she and the victim were sleeping in their bed. She said once she sat up, there was blood on her arm, causing her to crawl over McEwan and turn on a light.

Biggins told officers she saw a gunshot wound under his chin and called 911. Dispatchers advised her to perform CPR, which she did until authorities arrived.

THE TRUTH UNFOLDS

But apparently, Melanie skipped a part. Her statement conflicted with two witnesses, who said they saw Melanie Biggins downstairs on the couch looking like she “had seen a ghost” after the gunshot went off, KMBC reported.

From my research, I am going to assume that the witnesses were her own children.

Biggins also allegedly told police that her husband’s rifle was the only weapon in their home, only to later confess that she bought a gun from a pawn shop.

KCTV also reports that police said Biggins first alleged after she heard the gunshot, she went downstairs and the front door was open. She said she did not see who fired the shot.

Police added that while at the home, they discovered a pillow and blanket that was on the floor, each with a bullet hole. A .38 Special handgun case was found in a closet while a purple and black .38 Special handgun was seized from underneath a bunk bed in another room, KCTV reported.

ANOTHER MAN HAS HER HEART

While speaking with police, she allegedly confessed that she had an affair for the last year and a half of her and the victim’s nine-year marriage. She also expressed her desire to end their marriage but said she didn’t have the money, per KCTV.

In questioning with detectives, Biggins was unable to explain how the weapon was located under a bed in a separate room in the house. When asked about the couple’s relationship, Biggins said they had been legally married for nine years but she had recently wanted to get a divorce. She told detectives that because of the couple’s financial problems, divorce was “not an option.”

Melanie Biggins is now charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office also confirmed McEwan was fatally shot in the back of his head.

Melanie did not have one photo of Etienne on her page. It took a bit to  even find a single picture of him. The man barely existed outside of her small world.

This is what I mean about some of you so called “good men.” You have to learn to be a better judge of character. This woman couldn’t even lie good. The murder wasn’t even well thought out.   I also don’t believe a man should keep a cheating wife. It’s too disrespectful. We constantly tell women to leave cheating women. But men should too.

THE CHILDREN

Etienne L. McEwan MURDERED

Through my extensive research, I found a GoFundMe that has been set up by Etienne’s daughter.  On the page, she avoided mentioning his name.

The page reads:

“Hi, my name is Diamond McEwan and I’m starting a fundraiser to help pay for my dad funeral and helping get my sisters back comfortable.

On the 31st of August I got a call that would change my life forever. My dad wife called saying that the door was open and my dad was shot and killed in his bed while he was sleep. No break in and nobody heard or seen no one run out of the house. It was later discovered that it was his wife who killed him while he was in bed sleep.

Both of my younger sisters ages 10 & 11 was in the residence when it occurred & went in the room to find our dad dead.

Their mom is in jail being charged with murder. I the big sister age 24 now is getting custody of both of my sisters & we have to start over with everything for them.

I definitely need help, this was very unexpected & a traumatizing event for me and especially my little sisters. Anything that anyone can donate will be gladly appreciated and will be a big help to help our family in this traumatic time.”

While the news is reporting on this, The GoFundMe obviously states the other details they left out.

From a soul perspective Etienne, didn’t seem to have much importance in his life outside of his kids. He didn’t really make a name for himself or stake his value in this world. So perhaps the wife thought she could easily make it disappear.
