After her recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe‘s ‘Club Shay Shay’ where Mo’Nique discussed her grievances with Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey, the comedian faced criticism from figures like Judge Greg Mathis and Stephen A. Smith.
Mathis suggested that Mo’s outspokenness in telling “her” truth was tarnishing the image of the black community.
The comedian took to the stage to respond.
During the Katt Williams ‘Dark Matter Tour’ this past weekend in Albany, New York, Mo’Nique took to the stage with an unexpected agenda: apologizing to Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry. However, the apology she delivered wasn’t quite what many may have anticipated.
Acknowledging Mathis’s remarks, Mo’Nique stood before her warm, supportive audience and expressed her readiness to apologize. Yet, her words were a shock to everyone who witnessed.
“I heard you, Brother Greg Mathis. I heard you, Stephen A. Smith,” she declared. ““I’m a b*tch who’s going to walk in what the f**k I said. And I owe two motherf***ers an apology because I communicated some sh*t wrong to them some years ago.””
While acknowledging past misunderstandings, she was unapologetically resolute about setting things straight with Perry and Winfrey..
With her signature boldness, Mo said: “Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, I want to apologize for telling y’all to suck my d**k because I forgot to tell y’all to lick the nuts that came with them.”
The crowd responded with applause, seemingly embracing Mo’Nique’s unorthodox style.
This savage apology adds another chapter to Mo’Nique’s history of public conflicts with Hollywood elites. Despite her accomplishments, her relationship with the industry has been fraught, as she has consistently spoken out against what she perceives as unfair treatment.
I truly understand being authentic to your soul, and feeling the need to right people’s perceived wrongs against you. However, our words, feelings and actions carry spiritual consequences. Carrying the belief that someone has wronged you, will cause more people to wrong you in the future.
This is why God says to seek vengeance against no one and to allow him to do it for you. God tells us to forgive for ourselves, so that we don’t carry that energy with us.
Mo just possibly nailed the coffin in her comedy/acting career.
That Katt Williams tour will be over eventually and the money will be spent. She will need new money. Unless she’s about to get a huge podcast deal or something, I don’t see how slaying Oprah and Tyler is going to help her career.
However, we will be watching to see how this turns out for Monique.
God bless them all.
