There is so much going on with Wendy Williams in the past 2 years. Number 1 is that she has been diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. So she will not be returning to the air.
Now there is a battle over her finances.
Let’s start from the top.
According to Radar, a source claimed that Wendy Williams Had an 8-Figure Fortune in Bank Before Court-Appointed Guardianship.
Wendy Williams had an eight-figure fortune stashed away in various Wells Fargo bank accounts before her assets were frozen and she was placed under the care of a court-appointed guardian, RadarOnline.com reported.
The 59-year-old former talk show star had accumulated a treasure chest worth between $40 to $50 million spread out in more than a dozen accounts held by the bank, a source told RadarOnline.com.
It is unknown how much of the cash is left since Wells Fargo successfully filed a petition in the New York Supreme Court to place Wendy in a temporary financial guardianship claiming she was potentially a “victim of undue influence and financial exploitation.”
According to the source, Wendy’s life is now controlled by a cadre of lawyers, court evaluators, and specialists who are all chipping away at her fortune, and selling all of her stuff.
Wendy doesn’t know any of these people, nor did she select them, yet they are all getting paid out of Wendy’s finances which only seem to be dwindling and not invested or improving.
Wendy’s private life focused mostly on her ex husband and his affairs, and until a Lifetime documentary about Wendy aired, showcasing the retired talk show host in a disturbing light.
Her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, filed a lawsuit to prevent the airing which shamelessly showed the beloved star in the confusing throes of dementia.
Despite the $400K contract. Morrissey claimed the gossip queen didn’t know what she was signing and would not have wanted the world to see her disorientated, under the influence, and “in an obviously disabled state,” the court documents showed.
During the documentary Wendy said she had no money. “I’m gonna tell you something, if it happens to me, it could happen to you,” says Wendy Williams in the documentary trailer after revealing she has “no money.”
Wendy’s family questions whether she’s being robbed blind.
Now Sabrina is once again in the spotlight after selling Wendy’s dream home for nearly a $1 Million loss.
The Manhattan townhouse was a dream home the Wendy purchased in 2021 that she never got to live in.
But before we get to that, part I of the “Where is Wendy Williams” documentary on Lifetime, revealed that Wendy’s son spending excessively is what triggered the financial shut down to begin with.
Wendy’s nephew admitted her son spent more than $100k on Uber Eats alone…
Now back to the sell of Wendy’s beloved townhome.
On May 10th, Wendy’s Financial District area property was sold for $3.75 million. $822,000 less than the amount she purchased it for in July 2021. This process was overseen by Wendy Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey.
Which is confusing, and has social media users saying that Wendy is being robbed blind.
Especially considering Wendy was hit with a $568k federal tax lien. So obviously someone isn’t taking care of her business.
Regarding the sale of the former talk show host’s home, a source informed The NY Post:
“Wendy’s dream has always been to live in Manhattan in a dream apartment but never got a chance to do so. It is a very unfortunate situation.”
Sabrina is speculated to be taking advantage of Wendy’s health condition.
One Instagram user wrote,
“They robbing this woman blind”
Another user shared similar concerns,
“Unfortunately, this is what happens when you surround yourself with leeches and don’t have anyone solid in your corner. The guardian syphons your money because her family is grimy and can’t be trusted either. Poor Wendy, going out like this.”
Wendys family voiced concerns about her care under her guardian in the controversial Lifetime docuseries “Where Is Wendy Williams?”
Wendy’s son, Kevin Hunter Jr., said, “I feel like the guardian has not done a good job of protecting my mom.”
Wendy’s sister said the family would gladly take care of Wendy and wasn’t worried about getting paid to do it.
