Brooklyn, New York – On Tuesday, a Brooklyn pimp who admitted to chopping up his girlfriend and putting her severed head in his freezer, after forcing her into prostitution, was charged by the feds, for the woman’s 2017 murder and also years of sex trafficking.
In 2019, Somorie Moses also known as “Sugar Bear,” was acquitted of Leondra Foster’s murder in Brooklyn criminal court, but will now face a fresh murder charge by the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District.
He’s also facing federal charges related to the sex trafficking of eight women, including minors, since 2003, according to authorities.
In 2017, authorities found several of Foster’s body parts at a Hunt’s Point waste transfer center. They later found the woman’s severed head inside Moses’ Brooklyn apartment in the Flatbush area.
During his 2019 trial, Moses was found not guilty of murdering Foster to the shock of family and onlookers, though he admitted to chopping up her body. Her family gasped when they heard the verdict.
Oh my God! It’s not right,” Foster’s sister, Shanicqua Figueroa, said, according to the outlet.
At the time Moses told the court that he would never kill his top money maker. Instead he claimed a john killed her.
Prosecutors argued that Moses forced Foster in prostitution, which eventually led to a “john” (sex client) brutally beating her. She later died from her injuries. Moses claimed he beat up the attacker, then panicked when Foster died. He decided to conceal her remains instead of contacting the police.
In the early morning hours of January 13, 2017, Moses allegedly murdered Leondra Foster, one of his many sex trafficking victims, by beating her until she died.
The following morning, using a knife and a saw, Moses dismembered Foster’s body inside their shared apartment in Brooklyn, New York. Four days later, on the morning of January 17, 2017, Moses brought Foster’s torso and limbs to the Bronx for disposal at a sanitation site. Foster’s head, hands and feet — including a foot with the name “Somorie” tattooed on it — were subsequently recovered by law enforcement inside the deep freezer of Moses’s apartment.
Moses’ attorney Julie Clark argued during that trial he couldn’t have killed her because he’s a businessman who didn’t want to hurt his bottom line, though the defense conceded he cut up her dead body.
“Mr. Moses cut up her body,” Clark said “He didn’t want to go to jail. He didn’t want to be blamed. He had no motive to kill his moneymaker.”
According to Foster’s family, the victim was once in a relationship with Moses, but when she tried to leave, he threatened to kill her.
Moses admitted that he was a “gangster pimp, who dismembered Moses into at least nine pieces. He then stashed her hands, hand, and feet inside a freezer in his apartment, next to his groceries.
He was convicted of negligent homicide and concealing a corpse.
