Prosecutors Reveal Why Tory Lanez Allegedly Shot Megan Thee Stallion

The long awaited felony assault case against Tory Lanez started it’s first day of trial on Monday, December 12.   Prosecutors have offered up their opinion as to what drove the artist to allegedly shoot Megan Thee Stallion.

Prosecutors allege that Lanez used a handgun to fire multiple bullets at Megan’s feet and told her to “Dance b***h” all because she reportedly insulted him. The prosecution claimed that the Alone At Prom rapper was angry after Meg sarcastically called him a “beautiful artist.” They presented several text messages from the defendant, in which he apologized and claimed he was “too drunk.”

“I know you’re probably never going to talk to me again, but I genuinely want you to know I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart,” Lanez reportedly texted Meg. “I was just too drunk. Nonetheless, shit should have never happened, and I can’t change what did. I just feel horrible because I genuinely just got too drunk.”

“They’d all been drinking, emotions were running high,” Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott said according to Rolling Stone. “What Megan and Kelsey will both tell you is what really set off the defendant was when Megan insulted his skills as a musical artist.”

The shooting happened outside of Kylie Jenner’s pool party in Hollywood Hills. According to prosecutors, Lanez, Meg, her former best friend Kelsey Harris and driver Jauquan Smith hopped into a black Cadillac Escalade. Smith was reportedly driving the car when he pulled over to let Meg and Kelsey out. That’s when Lanez allegedly fired the gun at Meg’s feet.

The defense also offered an explanation for the evidence the prosecution presented. Lanez’s lawyer George Mgdesyan argued that the altercation at the heart of the case was sparked by jealousy between Megan and her former friend Kelsey Harris, both of whom had relationships with Lanez. Mgdesyan told the court that their issues began inside the party because Meg was allegedly “jealous” that Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, was spending time with Jenner in the pool. Corey Gamble, Kris Jenner’s boyfriend, reportedly witnessed the moment and is prepared to take the witness stand to testify.

KELSEY ACCUSES MEGAN OF STEALING HER MEN

Lanez eventually agreed to leave the party with Meg and Kelsey. Once they got into the car, an argument ensued in which Tory claimed that he and Meg had sexual relations. Kelsey became enraged because she too was allegedly in a sexual relationship with Tory as well.

“Megan did the same thing to me when I was with DaBaby, another rapper, and when I was dating Ben Simmons, the NBA basketball player,” Mgdesyan told jurors about a statement Kelsey Harris allegedly made.

Megan Thee Stallion previously denied having any kind of sexual relationship with Lanez. Lanez has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

It was pretty obvious that Tory attempted to soften public opinion of him by bringing his son to court.

“I thought we had a real connection,” she said of Lanez while fighting back tears. “I thought he knew me. And I never would’ve thought he would’ve shot at me at all.”

She added, “I never put my hands on this man. I never did anything to him. There was an argument. People argue every day. Friends argue every day.”

The incident allegedly occurred early in the morning on July 12, 2020. Megan, Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson), and Megan’s former best friend, Kelsey Harris, were in a Cadillac Escalade after leaving a gathering at Kylie Jenner’s house when an argument broke out. Megan claimed the argument caused her to get out of the vehicle, at which point Peterson allegedly shouted, “Dance, bitch!” and began shooting at her feet.

Megan’s road to recovery after the alleged shooting was long. As she told Rolling Stone, she actually got surgery that same night as the alleged incident and remained in the hospital for several days. After she was discharged, she recalled, “Both of my legs wrapped up. I could not walk. I still have bullet fragments in my feet right now. I was very scared that I was not able to be Megan Thee Stallion no more. And I was fucked up.”

Through physical therapy, Megan regained her ability to walk, but the emotional toll of the alleged incident weighed heavily on her, a mix of nightmares, embarrassment, and self-blame.

“I feel shame, a little bit, because even after he shot me, I still was thinking about everybody else in the car,” she said. “I thought everybody in the car was my friend, [and] the whole time, that’s not how they thought of me. That’s what really hurts.”

On top of all that has been the very public discourse about the incident, as well as additional rumors and allegations about the circumstances surrounding it — some of which Peterson has helped boost. On both social media and in song, Peterson has claimed he was framed and alluded to romances with both Megan and her former friend Harris.

Truth be told, those men probably wanted Megan anyway.  Men will talk to the easy one in the group just to gain access to the one they really want.
