Saweetie Opens Up About Her Relationship with Quavo ‘We’re ‘Really Attracted to Each Other’, Meanwhile Drama Ensues

Saweetie and Quavo have one of the cutest relationships on the internet. The “My Type” rapper says she was attracted to Quavo before she even met him.

“I liked him before he even knew me. He was my only celebrity crush,” she tells PEOPLE about liking Quavo, 29. “I always thought he was fine. I liked his voice. I thought he was sexy.”

The pair revealed how they met on Instagram in an interview with GQ. “I seen her on my Explore page,” recalled Quavo.

“I was like, ‘Damn! Who is this?’ So, I did my research and I DM’d her. I was like, ‘How she going to call herself icy and she don’t talk to me?’ So, I slid in her DM, [and] I told her, ‘You an icy girl, you need a glacier boy.’”

Quavo shared a screenshot of his first DM to Saweetie, which happened back in 2018. He sent a snowflake emoji and she replied with an emoji of a bowl of noodles, which was a ode to the Migos hit, “Stir Fry.” The “Workin Me” emcee then replied, “U so icy Ima glacier boy,” to which she messaged back, “Was hannin then.”

The two have been together ever since. The “Tap In” rapper starred as the leading lady in Quavo’s visuals for “Workin Me.” A few months later, he bought her a $75,000 snowflake chain for their first Christmas together.

In a recent interview with People Magazine Saweetie opened up about their power couple relationship, and said she actually doesn’t feel like a celebrity.

“It’s funny because I don’t feel like a celebrity. I mean, when I’m out and the paparazzi is flashing, I do, but I feel pretty normal and he’s normal, so we’re just like every other couple when we’re home,” the “Tap In” rapper says. “He likes for me to cook for him.”

“He loves my tacos,” she adds. “He says I make the best tacos in the world. But his staple dinner is definitely some steak. He doesn’t really like vegetables like that, so I have to make broccoli with hella cheese on it.”

While Saweetie cooks things up in the kitchen, she admits there’s a special ingredient that has really kept their love so strong: their friendship.

“I think the reason why we’ve lasted so long is because we’re like friends who are really, really, really attracted to each other,” she says. “I think that’s what keeps it fun. It keeps it different. We’re able to really just kick it. Like wherever, whenever.”

The self-proclaimed baby hair boss chick recently opened up to Page Six about waiting to have kids with Quavo until she reaches her goals. “I have a lot of goals for myself and, if we’re being honest, my parents had me at a young age, so my grandparents raised me,” she said. “I never really had that relationship with my mom and my dad. So, whenever I have a kid, I want to make sure I have time for them, and right now I don’t.”

I definitely feel her on that. Friendship inside of a romantic relationship changes the dynamic, when you put the ATTRACTION first, versus being FRIENDS first and then trying to force the attraction simply because you get along.

Now while Saweetie is flying high in a cloud and enjoying her relationship, on the music end she has a bit of drama.
